Dear White People is a film featured at this year's Sundance festival and New Directors, New Films festival at Lincoln Center that is one of the funniest, freshest and most biting works I've seen in a long time.
With President Obama in second term, many people have declared racism over, and anyone complaining about it just another perpetrator of victimology... or? Dear White People presents race relations as they exist in the real world of 2014, and manages to be wildly entertaining in the process. It also manages to be every bit as provocative as Do The Right Thing while being infinitely more subtle. Director Justin Simien is a talent to watch, and Dear White People is a must see: it just opened today!
